At the Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ, part of PJSC "Tupolev" of Rostec), production is being actively modernized for the production of Tu-214. But the enterprise still has assembly jigs for the construction of aircraft, although at present aircraft are already being built using a flow method, "First Technical" was told by Honored Pilot of the USSR, member of the public council of Rostransnadzor Oleg Smirnov.
He recalled that in previous years, a large number of factories supplied parts and components to KAZ, but now this system has been destroyed and has only just begun to recover.
Yes, the assembly jigs in Kazan have been preserved, but this is the history of the last century. Now there is a different flow method of assembling airplanes, but there are no components. Now they are engaged in the restoration of factories that will produce components.
Smirnov separately noted the great role of the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in supporting the development of the aviation industry in the republic.
Kazan is receiving special attention. Military aircraft are actively produced there, and the enterprise is alive. Minnikhanov is very interested in making "Tupolevs" in Kazan, and supports this matter. He was even Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Tupolev" for a while. Not every governor would dare to take on such a burden; it is a colossal responsibility.
In mid-December 2025, the Kazan Aviation Plant raised the first new Tu-214 into the sky 3.5 years after the adoption of the current version of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of the Aviation Industry. According to the document, by 2030 KAZ should build 115 such machines.
In addition, the Tu-214 with the latest domestic complex of onboard radio-electronic equipment and components received a certificate of approval of the main change to the standard design.
