The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has announced the first flight of the new Tu-214 medium-range aircraft, which was built entirely from domestic components. However, the aircraft is not authorized to carry passengers here and now.
The problem is that the aircraft with tail number RA-64536 is still undergoing certification flight tests. This means that until Rosaviatsiya issues official approval for the updated design, commercial operation with passengers is prohibited by law.
It should be noted that the aircraft does fly, but only carries the crew and engineers as part of the tests. It is impossible to buy a ticket for it. In addition, the aircraft was built in a business jet modification.
In fact, in its current state, the Tu-214 with number RA-64536 is a flying laboratory. Its main task is flight testing of new import-substituted systems.
It is unknown when the certification tests of the aircraft in the import-substituted version will be completed.
