The crew of the small anti-submarine ship (MPK) «Yunga» — part of the Kola Flotilla of mixed forces of the Northern Fleet — successfully completed a series of exercises as part of combat training in the Barents Sea. The training was conducted in a special area that was closed to civilian ships and aircraft.
During the maneuvers, the sailors conducted artillery fire from a universal 76-mm AK-176M installation at sea targets, including robotic systems that simulated threats from a mock enemy. In addition, the ship's fire systems were used to engage coastal targets.
Special attention was paid to combating new threats: the crew practiced the skills of detecting, tracking, and destroying surface drones. In addition, maneuvers were performed to evade naval mines and BECs. As part of air defense training, a salvo fire was carried out on aerial targets using both the AK-176M and the rapid-firing 30-mm AK-630M installation.
Additionally, measures to protect against underwater sabotage means were practiced at the anchorage: personnel used anti-sabotage grenade launchers, simulating repelling attacks by underwater swimmers or unmanned underwater vehicles.
