Regions with High Road Accident Mortality Rates Named

Tuva, Altai, and the Oryol Region lead in the number of road fatalities

In 2025, Russia saw over 13,900 fatal road traffic accidents. According to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the highest mortality rates were recorded in Tuva, Altai, and the Oryol Region.

In terms of figures, Tuva has 32.7 deaths per 100,000 population, which is more than three times the national average.

In Altai and the Oryol Region, this rate is slightly lower, at 22 and 20.1 deaths per 100,000 residents, respectively. In the Jewish Autonomous Region, the figure is 20.07.

Compared to other regions, Moscow has a road accident mortality rate of just 2.2 people per 100,000 population, which is 7.3 times lower than the national average. The Nenets Autonomous Okrug and St. Petersburg stand out among the territories with the fewest fatalities, with road accident mortality rates of 2.3 and 2.6, respectively.
