From January 1, 2026, self-employed individuals in Russia began submitting applications for voluntary disability insurance. This was reported by the press service of the Social Fund of the Russian Federation.
1,121 applications have been submitted from self-employed individuals wishing to receive the right to paid sick leave.
Applications are received electronically through the "My Tax" mobile application.
About the voluntary insurance experiment
In 2026, participants in the experiment can receive payments for sick leave, like employees (employed under the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, GPH agreement). To do this, you must choose the amount of insurance coverage for the year: 35 thousand rubles or 50 thousand rubles.
Monthly or annual payment of insurance premiums is possible. The tariff — 3.84%, that is 1,344 rubles or 1,920 rubles, respectively. Sick leave is paid after 6 months after making monthly or annual contributions.
The amount of payments also depends on the employee's length of service. A notification of the right to receive funds will come from the Social Fund after the closing of the sick leave.
Applications from self-employed individuals are also accepted on the "Gosuslugi" portal and in the offices of the Social Fund.
