Botswana has invited Russian investors to cooperate in the extraction of rare earth metals (REM) and diamonds, according to the African country's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Phinny Butale.
We sincerely believe that Botswana is the best place for investment, considering its political and economic stability.
The high-ranking diplomat recalled that the Russian company Nornickel previously had assets in Botswana, participating in a nickel ore mining project.
Furthermore, the country is ready to cooperate with Russia in the diamond sector, given its expertise in the mining industry, Butale added.
According to him, mutually beneficial cooperation is possible in this area, which would allow diversifying Botswana's economy and earning income from raw material processing, the minister concluded.
Rare earth metals are used in high-tech industries, including electronics, optics, defense, as well as catalysts in oil refining and fertilizers to increase yields.
