NERZ Mastered the Repair of Key Power Units of 2ES10 "Granit" Electric Locomotives

The Novosibirsk Electric Locomotive Repair Plant (NERZ) has officially received permission to carry out pilot repairs of traction converters and auxiliary transformer units (ATU) for 2ES10 "Granit" series electric locomotives. The corresponding conclusion was issued by an interdepartmental commission after the completion of a comprehensive audit of the enterprise's technical readiness.

This decision expands the plant's repair competencies and allows NERZ to independently service the most critical energy components of the locomotive. The traction converter is responsible for controlling the traction motors and, in fact, ensures the movement of the train, while the ATU powers the entire auxiliary on-board infrastructure — from control systems to lighting and ventilation.

According to reports, the plant's specialists spent a year of intensive work mastering the repair of these high-tech units. During this time, a detailed analysis of the design, laboratory and field tests were carried out, technological processes were developed and proprietary engineering solutions were implemented.

Now the plant fully provides the repair cycle of 2ES10 electric locomotives in Siberia and the Far East, increasing service localization and reducing dependence on third-party contractors.
