Scammers have intensified phishing attacks amid the December distribution of tax notifications, according to the press service of the Moshelovka platform.
Victims receive messages in messengers, SMS or, less often, by e-mail with the subjects "Unpaid tax", "Tax overpayment" or "Arrears in property tax".
The messages contain links to fake sites that mimic the Federal Tax Service portal or "Gosuslugi". Scammers are trying to obtain bank card details by offering to "clarify the details for a refund of the overpayment" or "urgently pay the arrears with a discount".
According to Moshelovka experts, such schemes are especially effective before the holidays: people are afraid to forget to pay taxes or hope for an unexpected refund.
Experts advise not to enter card details on third-party sites. To check for debts or pay taxes, you should manually enter the address of the official portal of the Federal Tax Service or "Gosuslugi" in the browser. All official notifications are sent to the taxpayer's personal account on the website nalog.gov.ru.
