Irkutsk Aviation Plant (part of PJSC "Yakovlev", Rostec Group) is capable of increasing the production of MC-21 aircraft to 36 units per year. This was stated to"Perviy Technicheskiy" by aviation expert, editor-in-chief of Avia.ru portal, Roman Gusarov.
According to him, such volumes can be discussed three years after the start of serial production of the aircraft, but the issue depends on the speed of construction of the machine's heart - the PD-14 engines.
Theoretically, about 100 MC-21 aircraft can be built by 2030. I believe in this. The Irkutsk plant will quickly start ramping up production - we will be talking about dozens of aircraft per year.
Gusarov also stated that the Tu-214 produced by Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ, part of PJSC "Tupolev", Rostec Group) should not be compared with the MC-21 in the context of production volumes.
They say that the Tu-214 needs to be redesigned, but this is equivalent to creating a new aircraft. And why do we need two identical aircraft if there is the MC-21 - more modern and technologically advanced? It has huge potential for development.
As a reminder, at the end of October, the second prototype MC-21-310 took to the skies in a import-substituted version, but without replacing five critical systems. Employees of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant worked around the clock to get the second test aircraft into the sky as soon as possible.
