Russian military adapted RBU-6000 naval rocket launcher for ground use

For conversion to ground conditions, the military removed acoustic fuses for underwater detonation

The Russian military has converted the RBU-6000 naval rocket launcher for ground use. Reportedly, the system can be used to engage fortified targets, engineering structures, and enemy personnel.

It is noted that changes were made to the ammunition design for the transition to ground use: active acoustic fuses designed to combat submarines were dismantled. The weight of the RGB-60 projectile is 113–119.5 kg, of which approximately 23.5 kg is explosive.

The military emphasizes that, at short ranges, this system provides significantly higher accuracy compared to some multiple launch rocket systems — in particular, according to estimates, the comparison is made with 9K57 "Uragan" and 9K51 "Grad" at minimum firing distances. At the same time, the limited number of guides and the specifics of the ammunition reduce the overall firepower of the complex.

RBU-6000 (short for "Rocket Bomb Launcher - 6000", designation - "Smerch-2") is a Soviet reactive naval rocket launcher with a stationary two-plane aiming installation with twelve radially arranged barrels. It is designed to destroy submarines and attacking torpedoes of the enemy.

Earlier www1.ru reported that updated Courier robotic systems have entered the Russian army.
