Канада пытается изъять самолёт Ан-124 компании «Волга-Днепр», Россия называет шаг незаконным

Russian Ambassador Accuses Ottawa of Politicization and Points to Legal Obstacles to Confiscating the Aircraft

The attempt by Canadian authorities to confiscate an aircraft belonging to the Russian airline Volga-Dnepr is illegal and of a blatantly politicized nature, according to the Russian Ambassador to Canada, Oleg Stepanov.

According to him, after the meeting of the energy ministers of the G7 countries in Toronto on October 31, the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, announced her intention to transfer the aircraft to Ukraine as "compensation for damages."

Such actions are illegitimate, and Ottawa is well aware of this. The aircraft must be unconditionally returned to its owner. Then, apparently, Canada will need to compensate the owners of the aircraft – the company "Volga-Dnepr."
Oleg Stepanov, Russian Ambassador to Canada

Stepanov emphasized that Canada has no rights to the aircraft and faces legal difficulties: despite the procedure having started at the beginning of the year, the authorities have not been able to launch a judicial process for confiscation.

The An-124 aircraft of the Volga-Dnepr company, chartered by the Canadian government, arrived in Canada on February 27, 2022, with a cargo of COVID-19 tests from China, two hours before the North American country closed its airspace to Russian aviation due to the situation in Ukraine. Despite this, the aircraft was detained, and the crew was placed in a hotel. Later, the crew flew to Russia, and the aircraft remained in Canada.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Rostec presented a complex of aviation solutions in Venezuela.
