In the first quarter of 2026, certification work on changes to five onboard systems for the Tu-214 aircraft was completed as part of the import substitution program. The tests included ground and flight checks of the modernized solutions.
Yury Abrosimov, Managing Director of AO "Tupolev", announced the completion of the work during a supplier conference at the Kazan Aviation Plant. According to him, the modernization of the Tu-214 continues simultaneously with the renewal of the enterprise's production facilities.
The certification work affected minor changes to the aircraft's typical design. In parallel, the enterprise continues the project to transition the Tu-214 to a two-person cockpit.
The conference gathered more than 40 enterprises – partners of AO "Tupolev". Participants were presented with plans for the development of Tu-214 production and new technologies being implemented at the Kazan Aviation Plant to increase aircraft output.
