The second import-substituted sample of the Russian MC-21 aircraft took to the sky from the airfield of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant of the Yakovlev company (part of the UAC of the Rostec State Corporation). The operation of PD-14 engines and new domestic systems was tested on board.
The flight was performed by a crew consisting of test pilots Oleg Mutovin and Andrey Voropaev, as well as leading flight test engineers - flight operators Grigory Kudryashov and Anton Kuznetsov.
The aircraft will join the certification testing program along with the MC-21 prototype, partially equipped with new Russian systems and units, which made its first flight in a new guise on April 29, 2025.
The aircraft was in the air for about 50 minutes, reaching a height of up to 3,500 m. The flight mission was completed in full, and all domestic systems worked normally.
Most of the imported components and systems were replaced with domestic ones on the aircraft. The liner was the first in the MC-21 program to receive a wing made of domestic composite materials, which successfully passed a set of tests.
Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK accelerated the welding of parts for PD-8 and PD-14 engines by 10 times.
