ATS-Auto (manufacturer of methane versions of Lada cars) has announced a new project for a gas modification. The key feature of the new product is innovative flat metal cylinders. This approach saves space in the car.
Instead of traditional high-pressure gas storage, this system uses adsorbed methane technology. The fuel is held on a special carrier. This reduces the working pressure, ensuring safety and flexibility in the design.
This solution also has a disadvantage. The reduced pressure leads to a reduction in the volume of gas, which reduces the car's range compared to compressed methane models.
The novelty could be a step towards reducing the cost and simplifying gas systems for cars. But there is no talk of mass production yet.
