GShG 7.62 machine gun turned into a Russian "minigun" with four barrels

Kochevnik's modification reduced the rate of fire and simplified the activation process

Russian military personnel have reworked the design of the famous GShG 7.62 heavy machine gun and adapted it to modern UAV combat tasks. The gun has retained its high reliability and density of fire.

A fighter with the call sign Kochevnik reworked the original design, replacing some of the components and abandoning the gas exhaust system in favor of an electric drive, thereby simplifying the mechanism and reducing the rate of fire to a useful level.

The GShG 7.62 machine gun was originally created for the Mi 24 attack helicopter. It uses the same cartridge as the PKM with a rotating block of four barrels with adjustable rate of fire. For decades, samples have been lying in warehouses, and now they have attracted the interest of enthusiasts.

The reworked GShG performs well as a heavy weapon — the high density of fire and the use of standard cartridges make it suitable for engaging low-flying helicopters, drones, and lightly protected targets. This niche is especially relevant with the increasing threat from UAVs.

Earlier www1.ru reported that an unusual and cheap weapon was found against drones.
