Kazan is preparing for the production of the Mi-34 helicopter, announced Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The rotorcraft should replace light general-purpose helicopters of foreign production, including Airbus and Bell.
According to Minnikhanov, the Kazan Helicopter Plant (KVZ, part of the Rostec Group) has already completed the modernization of the main production workshops and ensured the transition of the Ansat helicopter to a Russian engine.
KVZ is preparing to produce a new product – the Mi-34 helicopter. I note that this year the company was awarded the Order of the Russian Federation "For Valiant Labor".
He emphasized that the main industrial facilities will be completed in 2025, which will also create conditions for the serial production of Tu-214 aircraft.
The Mi-34 was developed as a light training and sports helicopter. The prototype made its first flight in 1986. After the collapse of the USSR, the project was frozen.
Estimated characteristics of the Mi-34:
- Length — 8.8 m (excluding rotors)
- Height — 2.75 m
- Maximum take-off weight — 1450 kg
- Speed — 200 km/h
- Practical ceiling of altitude — 4000 m
- Flight range — 349 km
In the 2000s, interest in the Mi-34 was revived in the Russian Helicopters holding, it even came to the creation of the Mi-34S1 modification, but in 2012 the project was closed again.
