The new LMS-192 Osvey turboprop aircraft, developed jointly by Russia and Belarus, will make its first flight in 2026. However, to deploy full-scale production, it is necessary to seriously expand the workshops, explained Andrei Tuchin, chief engineer of plant No. 558 in Baranovichi.
According to him, the company is already preparing for the production of "Osvey". Now there is a global construction going on here. Three new buildings will be put into operation in stages, each subsequent one larger than the other.
The schedule for creating the aircraft is quite tight. Assembly production is still different from repair production, it needs specific spaces, so the required area is many times larger than what we have today.
From 2027 to 2030, it is planned to supply 158 Osvey aircraft. The new aircraft will be equipped exclusively with Russian components, including the VK-800S turboprop engine, which is also being developed by UZGA.
Engine tests are planned to be carried out on the Yak-40LL flying laboratory, in order to obtain a certificate by the end of 2025.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the assembly of the first ventral fin bay of the MS-21-310 aircraft began at the Sokol aircraft plant.
