The Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH, part of the Kalashnikov Concern of Rostec) will send the first batch of MARS individual protection systems (IPS) against precision-guided weapons to the customer, the company's press service reported.
Kalashnikov explained that MARS is designed for optical-electronic suppression of targeting systems of attacking guided ammunition.
It includes a wind sensor, control equipment, a laser irradiation detector, launchers, and aerosol ammunition.
The complex operates as follows: four laser irradiation sensors scan the surrounding area 360 degrees, and when a threat is detected, the launchers fire aerosol ammunition in the direction from which the attack is coming.
The sprayed fine particulate matter disrupts the control of the attacking projectile, causing it to lose contact with the target or continue flying "blindly." Apparently, the complex is designed for heavy combat equipment — tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia is ready to offer deliveries of Su-57 and S-400 air defense systems abroad.
