Modern Russian trams of the 71-911EM "Lion Cub-Moscow" model have begun to be used on sections of the track where there is no contact network. Since the beginning of autumn 2025, vehicles have been running on route No. 90 in Moscow, providing passenger transportation and overcoming sections without power supply due to batteries.
71-911EM trams, developed specifically for Moscow, are highly energy efficient and have a high level of safety. In particular, the "Anti-Sleep" system monitors the driver's condition, warning him if he loses concentration or shows signs of fatigue, and in a critical situation is able to automatically stop the tram.
According to the contract concluded in 2025, PC Transport Systems must supply the city with 100 trams of this modification by the end of 2026. These are single-section, fully low-floor trams capable of autonomously transporting passengers up to 4 km. The 71-911EM cabin is equipped with 41 seats, with a total capacity of 110 people.
The trams are produced at three factories of the Russian company: Tver Mechanical Plant of Electric Transport in Tver, Nevsky Plant of Electric Transport named after F.A. Pirotsky in St. Petersburg and Engels Plant of Electric Transport in the Saratov Region.
