The Egyptian authorities have begun negotiations with Rosatom on the possible construction of a small nuclear power plant (NPP). This was announced by the country's Minister of Energy Mahmoud Esmat at the World Atomic Week international forum in Moscow.
Once we have all the information, we will proceed to the next stage to determine the capacity according to Egypt's needs.
Rosatom began construction of the first El-Dabaa NPP in Egypt in 2022. Nuclear scientists will build four power units with 1200 MW each.
Rosatom head Alexey Likhachev on September 25 launched the shipment of the VVER-1200 reactor vessel for El-Dabaa. The station is scheduled to be commissioned in 2028.
