The new Russian electric car "Atom" from the company "Kama" is equipped with an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) system capable of preventing up to 80% of accidents caused by driver error. This was announced by Alexander Kostylev, Deputy General Director for Sales and Development of Charging Infrastructure, at Kazan Digital Week.
The system works as follows: if the car detects a potential hazard on the road, it automatically takes action to prevent an accident. The car thinks for the driver, Kostylev noted.
At the same time, ADAS is effective in situations where the accident is caused by the driver's actions, but it is not able to prevent collisions caused by other road users.
"Atom" will be equipped with the functionality of transmitting data about incidents, including accidents, to fleet management systems or special applications. This function is useful for taxi and car-sharing companies, allowing them to track events in real time. An SOS button is provided for emergency situations.
The electric car has been under development since 2021. The first functional prototype was presented in May 2023 in Moscow. Serial production and the start of sales are planned for 2025. The company "Kama", the manufacturer of "Atom", was founded in August 2021.
