Interlab, a Moscow-based company, has developed and launched the production of domestic cathodes for gas chromatography-mass spectrometers, which were previously purchased abroad. The devices are used in medicine, science, and various industries such as chemical, food, and pharmaceutical.
Each gas chromatography-mass spectrometer has two cathodes that serve as electron sources for ionizing the substances being analyzed. Filaments are consumables. They have a lifespan of up to one year and require replacement. Without regular cathode supplies, the devices could fail, which would entail significant replacement costs.
Interlab specialists conducted reverse engineering of the cathodes, selected the necessary materials, determined the optimal shape, and conducted tests on existing devices. In 2025, the company began producing cathodes, which will allow users to abandon the import of these components. Product deliveries have already begun for Russian customers.
