The developed method allows to bypass the resistance of pathogens to drugs

A scientist from the N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences has proposed new drug compounds for creating drugs against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, cancer and viral diseases.

Drug resistance is one of the main threats to modern medicine and all of humanity. Many of the existing drugs for the treatment of viral and cancer diseases, including classical antibiotics, are small organic molecules. Their effect on target cells is similar to how enzymes interact with their substrates.

The scientist has developed a new treatment method in which drugs do not act on the cell membrane, but penetrate inside and affect its internal processes. This significantly reduces the risk that a virus or cancer cell will be able to adapt to the drug and develop resistance.
