Россияне стали брать меньше кредитов для покупки автомобилей

In the first half of the year, car loan volumes fell by 47.2%

In the first half of 2025, the volume of car loans issued in Russia decreased by 47.2% compared to the same period in 2024. This significant drop is due to several factors, including rising market rates and the introduction of new lending restrictions.

According to the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI), the largest number of car loans were issued in regions such as Moscow (52.5 billion rubles), the Moscow region (46.5 billion rubles), St. Petersburg (31.3 billion rubles), the Krasnodar Territory (29 billion rubles), and the Republic of Tatarstan (28 billion rubles). These regions remain leaders in terms of car loan volumes.

However, among the 15 regions where active lending is observed, the largest decrease in car loan volumes occurred in the Rostov region (-57.2%), the Moscow region (-54.5%), Moscow (-54.4%), St. Petersburg (-53.6%), and the Leningrad region (-52.2%).

The NBKI believes that the drop in car loan issuance is due to an increase in rates and the recycling fee introduced in the second half of 2024. An important factor was also the introduction of macroprudential measures restricting lending to citizens with a high level of debt burden. Car loans have become practically inaccessible for such borrowers.
