New Class "H" Airspace for Drones Flying Up to 150 Meters Appears in Russia

The decision will simplify the use of drones in logistics, construction, and agriculture

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed a decree introducing a new class of airspace in Russia — H, specifically designed for unmanned aerial vehicles. Now, drones will be able to officially fly at altitudes of up to 150 meters above the ground, as well as along specially designated routes — up to 3050 meters.

Previously, only classes A, C, and G, oriented towards manned aviation, were in effect in Russia. The new class H is выделен in a separate category, which, according to Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev, makes Russia one of the few countries with such a legal solution.

Rosaviatsiya will publish routes and rules for using this airspace. Flights will be permitted for drones of any mass — both light and heavier than 30 kg. Work is also underway on a system to prevent collisions between drones and manned aircraft.

The creation of a special class of airspace simplifies and legalizes the mass use of drones in logistics, agriculture, construction, and other fields.
