Experienced unit AT2S-2800/650 for diesel locomotive TE26 successfully passed tests in Novocherkassk

The complex combines traction and auxiliary generators in one housing

Pilot samples of the AT2S-2800/650 traction synchronous unit, developed by TMH-ElectroTech, have successfully passed acceptance tests at VElNII in Novocherkassk.

The unit will become a key element of the diesel generator for the new TE26 diesel locomotive, designed for freight and passenger transportation on low-traffic sections of railways.

The device combines traction and auxiliary synchronous generators in one housing, operates as an electric motor when starting the diesel engine, and provides power to all systems of the diesel locomotive. The product has been under development since 2023 and has already successfully passed preliminary tests.

Full-scale tests as part of the locomotive are scheduled for the third quarter of 2025. All components of the unit are manufactured on a domestic component base, which corresponds to the course towards import substitution.

Why this is important: the new development strengthens the technological independence of Russian railway engineering and reduces dependence on foreign components, ensuring production stability and modernization of rolling stock.
