Pilots from the Northwestern Branch of Rosmorport conducted a unique operation on July 14 — towing the barge "Yuri Kuvykin" with the upper structure of an offshore ice-resistant platform, the dimensions of which were twice the size of the permissible vessels for the Kaliningrad Sea Canal.
The operation required serious preparation: specialists from the Central Research Institute of the Marine Fleet (CRIIMF) conducted a scientific justification for the towing, and the Krylov State Research Centre simulated the maneuvers on a simulator. The route length was 14 nautical miles — from the pier to the exit into the Baltic Sea.
Thanks to the work of pilots Dmitry Budenny, Evgeny Shaforostov, and Alexander Kotlyarov, as well as the coordination of the tug crews, the operation was carried out safely and exactly according to plan.
