Russian Railways Fights Speculators with IT Solutions

Russian Railways is actively using modern technologies to combat ticket speculators on popular southern trains. This was announced by the company's Deputy General Director, Ivan Kolesnikov.

Passengers who want to buy tickets to southern resorts often complain that they are quickly sold out. Russian Railways explained that part of the problem is created by reseller bots. Kolesnikov emphasized that a lot has been done over the past year to combat this problem.

We have introduced algorithms that interrupt the possibility of quickly returning tickets for sale. Speculators through Avito offered assistance in оформлении билета, bought it for themselves, returned this ticket late at night and immediately bought it back using the passport data that was transmitted. As soon as the algorithm changed, and tickets began to return to sale not immediately, but after two hours or in the morning, the issue itself began to be resolved to some extent.

He also mentioned a "waiting list" for released tickets. Over the year, passengers left about 3.8 million requests and оформлении more than 720 thousand tickets.

Avito has strengthened the moderation of ads and now blocks ads from railway ticket resellers at the preliminary verification stage.

Last year, in the interests of our users, we further tightened the rules and complicated the moderation algorithms, and now all such ads are blocked at the preliminary verification stage.

Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service proposed to the government to establish a fee for returning tickets for trains in the amount of 10% of their cost.
