The creation of ground infrastructure facilities for the Baiterek launch complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome and the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle continues as planned. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov.
The first launch of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle from the Baiterek complex is scheduled for December 2025.
The project to create the Baiterek space rocket complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome for launching Soyuz-5 launch vehicles is the largest within the framework of Russian-Kazakh cooperation in the space industry. The Russian side is creating the latest Soyuz-5 launch vehicle, and the Kazakh side is responsible for creating the ground infrastructure and modernizing the Baiterek complex.
The start dates for the construction of the Baiterek complex have been repeatedly postponed due to the preparation of technical documentation for the project. The Soyuz-5 rocket was originally scheduled to launch before the end of 2023. However, the parties later agreed to postpone the start of flight tests to 2025.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Soyuz-5 is still inferior to the American Falcon 9.
