Data on the engine of a supersonic Russian civil aircraft revealed

Engineers are developing a heat-stressed compressor and elements of a new high-pressure turbine

As part of the work to create a supersonic civil aircraft, engineers are already conducting research on a number of engine components. This was reported by the Technosphere Russia publication.

The research is focused on a high-pressure, heat-stressed compressor with elements of an air bleed system for turbine cooling, a high-altitude, heat-stressed, low-emission combustion chamber capable of operating at altitudes above 12 km, elements of a new high-pressure turbine, and an efficient additive air-to-air heat exchanger for the high-pressure turbine cooling system.

Also under investigation are the technology for creating an electric generator and drive for a promising power unit, the technology for developing a blade made of high-temperature polymer composite material for the engine fan, the technology for creating a high-pressure turbine nozzle guide vane made of composite materials, and much more.

They will also refine the technology for assembling gas generator units and modules, and integrating the engine's oil and air systems. The ongoing work to determine the long-term strength properties of the ZhS-32 material will be continued in a new research complex, which was announced in April 2025 under the code "СГС-Т3".

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the developer of the MC-21 will conduct more than 200 test flights before handing over the aircraft to customers.
