Car Museum with Unique Lada 112 and Samara Rally Models Opens in Belgium

The Belgian museum presented a collection of cars, with special attention paid to Soviet and Russian models

A new Abarth Works car museum has opened in the Belgian city of Lier. The collection includes over 300 cars, with Soviet and Russian models holding a special place.

The collection includes cars that participated in rallies and other competitions, as well as rare specimens such as:

  • Lada 112 1600 GMR — a sports version of the popular Lada 112 model, developed for participation in rallies.
  • Lada Samara 11300 S — a cult model among fans of the domestic auto industry. Samara was one of the most successful and best-selling models in the USSR and post-Soviet Russia. The museum exhibition focuses not only on historical versions, but also on sports versions, in order to show how these cars evolved.
  • Lada Samara Rally — this is a version for rally competitions, created on the basis of the popular Lada Samara. This car became a symbol of the successes of Soviet motorsport, participating in international rallies and competitions, which adds even more historical value to this exhibit.

The museum was founded by Guy Moerenhout, a former rally driver and one of the largest Lada car distributors in Belgium. Since 1971, he began collecting cars, and in 2015 he opened the first museum in Lier. With the growth of the collection and the need for more space, it was decided to build a new building, which opened in April 2025.
