Experts from the British handbook The Military Balance have published data on the anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) in service with the Russian Armed Forces as of 2025.
Western analysts claim that Russia now has 716 long-range SAMs (584 units in 2024). This includes 284 S-400 units (+36 units per year), 200 S-300PS (+40), 206 S-300PM (+56), 20 S-300V and 6 S-350.
At the same time, experts at The Military Balance stated that the Russian Armed Forces are not receiving new S-350 complexes. In addition, they ignored the deliveries of S-500 to the troops.
The handbook also included information on medium-range SAMs. Allegedly, Russia has only 80 Buk-M1 and Buk-M2 SAMs in service. But the British did not write about the new Buk-M3.
Journalists have calculated that the Russian Armed Forces have about 50 Pantsir-S SAMs. However, they did not mention other short-range systems, including Strela-10, Tor M1 and Tor M2.
The Russian Ministry of Defense does not provide statistics on the number of anti-aircraft missile systems. Officials did not comment on the information in the British handbook.
