Прототип бензинового 1,6-литрового мотора разработали в МГТУ имени Баумана

The new unit is based on the VAZ-21126 engine

The Design Bureau of Bauman Moscow State Technical University has developed and started testing a prototype of a 170 hp gasoline turbo engine.

Specialists took as a basis the 1.6-liter 16-valve VAZ-21126 engine (installed on Lada Priora and other models). The factory modification of the unit provides 98 hp with 145 Nm of torque. The installation of a turbine made it possible to increase the engine power almost twice.

At the first stage, modeling and optimization of the workflow was carried out in the entire range of speed and load operating modes. Optimal control parameters and design parameters were determined. For example, a decision was made to reduce the compression ratio and change the valve timing.

Where they plan to use the new engine is not yet known. After refinement, it can be used as an outboard boat motor or for buggies. The turbo engine is also planned to be installed in the new "Crimea" roadster when it goes into mass production.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the technical secrets of the new engine for the Niva from AvtoVAZ became known.
