The Museum of Transport Restored the GAZ-M20A "Pobeda" - a Symbol of Post-War Taxi

The restoration of the GAZ-M20A "Pobeda" - the first Soviet taxi, produced in 1954 - has been completed in Moscow. The car was one of the first to be produced after the Great Patriotic War. At that time, the country was in dire need of cars for passenger transportation.

The GAZ-M20A "Pobeda" was in very poor condition: the body was corroded, and the interior was almost completely destroyed. The restoration took more than a year and a half.

In the process, parts from the GAZ-M20 were used. During the restoration, the body, panels, fenders and even the original dashboard were preserved. The upholstery was replaced with leatherette, as it was in the original. The engine and brake and fuel systems were also restored.

The GAZ-M20A became the first taxi to receive classic attributes - a green light and "checkers". Now this unique car pleases the eye again and reminds us of the beginning of the history of Moscow taxi.
