Rostec starts developing artificial intelligence to replace fighter pilots

In the future, AI will be able to move the pilot from the fighter cockpit to the command post on the ground

Rostec has begun developing a process for transferring control of fighter aircraft to artificial intelligence using an information and control field based on wide-format monitors. This will expand the tactical capabilities of the aircraft, the state corporation noted.

It will be possible to remove the physiological limitations of a human from the operating conditions of a fighter and bring the strength and speed loads to the limit values of the "hardware", and not the pilot.

The Mikoyan Design Bureau (part of the United Aircraft Corporation) is testing the future "pilot-AI-pilot" interface. Engineers are developing technical solutions for the complex processing of information from onboard avionics.

This is necessary to visualize the spatial position of the aircraft and implement control carried out by the pilot-operator in conjunction with AI. It is assumed that a person, interacting with artificial intelligence, will perform a flight mission on the ground.
