The Kolomna Plant (part of TMH Energetic Solutions) has delivered the first TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotive with an automatic diesel start system (SAZD) to Russian Railways Holding. This was reported by the TMH press service.
The microprocessor system of the TEP70BS locomotive integrates control algorithms that start the locomotive automatically at low temperatures, heat the heat carriers of the unit to the required temperature (45 °C), turn on the pumping pumps when the machine stops, monitor the charge of the locomotive battery and, if necessary, charge the starting capacitors.
SAZD sends an audible signal to call the driver in case of a malfunction. The system is equipped with temperature sensors that monitor the engine condition.
Due to the introduction of SAZD, the locomotive engine will no longer idle during downtime. This will allow servicing several locomotives equipped with this system at once, and will save diesel fuel.
In the near future, the TEP70BS diesel locomotive will be tested at the Oktyabrskaya Railway test site. Based on the results of the inspection, a decision will be made on the supply of the following diesel locomotives of this series.
Earlier www1.ru reported that BMZ will develop a new diesel locomotive — TE26.
