Novatek plans to complete the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the Tula region in 2025. Investments in the project, located in the Uzlovaya special economic zone, will exceed 8.5 billion rubles.
The agreement on the plant's implementation was signed by the regional government with Novatek - LNG Fuel in 2024. The Governor of the Tula region, Dmitry Milyaev, emphasized that environmental and carbon neutrality issues are a priority for the region.
The use of LNG reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 20-25%, depending on the engine characteristics and fuel composition. In addition, LNG is an effective energy source for autonomous gasification of various industrial and agricultural facilities.
The construction of the small-tonnage complex has already begun and includes work on the installation of foundations, driveways, installation of technological equipment, and laying of on-site networks.
The plant will become the largest in the Central Federal District and will provide liquefied natural gas as motor fuel through a network of cryogenic filling stations, as well as for the needs of autonomous gasification.
