The Russian Aerospace Forces successfully launched a Soyuz-2.1b medium-class carrier rocket with a spacecraft intended for the needs of the Ministry of Defense. The launch took place on December 4 at 20:59 Moscow time from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. The rocket normally put the satellite into its calculated orbit, which was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
After the launch, the rocket was accompanied by ground-based automated control systems, and control of the satellite was transferred to the ground services of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces. Stable telemetry communication with the device has been established, and its on-board systems are operating normally.
According to Roscosmos, from December 27, 2006 to November 5, 2024, Soyuz-2.1b rockets have been launched 72 times, putting 665 spacecraft into near-Earth orbits and flyby trajectories. The last launch from Plesetsk in the interests of the Ministry of Defense took place on October 31, 2024 using the Soyuz-2.1a rocket. In addition, on September 17, a light-class Angara-1.2 rocket was launched with military satellites.
