Decommissioned NATO satellites, not deorbited in time, can be used to provide Russian troops with communication on the line of combat contact of electronic warfare equipment. This was reported to IA "TASS" by a source in the defense industry. According to him, the project related to obtaining telemetry information through the reuse of NATO satellites already "records successful passage through the communication channel".
[...] We encode digital information in the form of audio signals, as it used to happen during the use of dial-up modems. We use the same technology and transmit digital telemetry through decommissioned satellites of a likely enemy.[...] When electronic warfare is present on the line, it jams ordinary terrestrial audio communication, but if we have a well-oriented directional satellite antenna, then electronic warfare cannot affect it. Accordingly, the development will allow military personnel to simplify the use of communication in the zone of the Special Military Operation.
According to him, the development is also suitable for civilian purposes: for example, for the agro-technological complex throughout Russia.
