JSC Yakovlev, a leading Russian manufacturer of civil aircraft, will supply Smartavia Airlines with 45 MC-21 aircraft. The corresponding letter of intent, which is scheduled to be implemented until 2035, was signed on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
The document was signed by Andrey Boginsky, General Director of PJSC Yakovlev, and Andrey Vinichenko, Executive Director of JSC Smartavia Airlines.
According to Boginsky, Smartavia has extensive experience in operating foreign medium-range aircraft, which are being replaced by the MC-21.
By signing the agreement, we have expanded the pool of future operators of the domestic aircraft and once again confirmed the demand for our machines even after 2030.
He expressed confidence that the company's employees and passengers will appreciate the advantages of the latest aircraft.
Now, in order to implement the agreement, the parties will hold negotiations with the lessor, who will buy out the aircraft for further transfer to Smartavia under a financial lease.
