The construction of the first section of the high-speed railway (HSR) Moscow – St. Petersburg, from Moscow to Tver, is planned to be completed in 2026–2027. This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Valentin Ivanov, at the Eastern Economic Forum.
The first section, 100 kilometers long, will be used for testing HSR trains.
Ivanov noted that the Moscow – Tver section will be completed a year or a year and a half earlier than the entire магистраль, which should be ready by 2028. Currently, the construction of HSR exits from Moscow is actively underway.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev stated that the construction of the магистраль will begin in September 2024.
