Russian Military Personnel May Be Allowed to Use Hunting Rifles Against FPV Drones

State Duma Deputy Sergei Mironov sent a letter to the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Andrei Belousov with a request to work out a solution to the problem of military personnel using hunting weapons to combat enemy drones.

Mironov referred to appeals received from military personnel.

According to their experience, today one of the most effective means of destroying enemy UAVs, including FPV drones, is a hunting rifle loaded with buckshot or shot.

He explained that, according to the law "On Weapons", the owners are responsible for the storage and transportation of a hunting rifle if they have a corresponding license. Given this, unit commanders are looking among the military personnel for hunters to bring rifles with them.

In addition, the military police of garrisons, representatives of the commandant's office require that the hunting rifle be assigned to a specific fighter. According to Mironov, it is necessary to eradicate legal uncertainty and make it easier for military personnel to use such weapons.
