Russian engineers have begun developing a new universal correction and planning module (UMPC) for the FAB-3000-M54 aerial bomb. The updated device will unlock the full potential of the munition, reports the Telegram channel @Milinfolive.
According to the authors, the existing version of the UMPC is not designed for such a heavy bomb. The mass-inertia characteristics of the product are too large, which means that at the final stage of guidance, when trajectory disturbances need to be worked out quickly, the system does not have enough rudders.
In this regard, a new version of the UMPC is being developed specifically for the "three-ton". With rudders of a larger area and more powerful drives. There is every reason to believe that with the updated UMPC, the heavy FAB-3000 will shine with new colors.
The features of the Russian bomb were emphasized in Business Insider. Journalists noted that the destructive power of the FAB-3000 M-54 is such that even munitions that do not hit specific targets can be deadly due to the larger radius of destruction.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian engineers studied the elements of the Storm Shadow missile control system. They dismantled the control equipment, including servomotors, blocks, rudders and various structural elements.
