One of the oldest enterprises in the country, the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ), will begin mass production of the new 3TE28 main freight diesel locomotive, which will operate on the Eastern Operating Domain (covering four railways: Krasnoyarsk, East Siberian, Trans-Baikal and Far Eastern. - editor's note www1.ru).
The plant's management expects to receive the relevant certificate by the beginning of November. It is noted that the locomotive is capable of moving trains weighing over 7 thousand tons on the Eastern Operating Domain, and over 10 thousand tons on other sections of the railway. In terms of components, the 3TE28 is maximally localized.
The prototype diesel locomotive appeared in 2022. At the beginning of this year, it was sent to Kolomna near Moscow for certification tests. After receiving the permits, BMZ plans to assemble 30 units of 3TE28 and transfer them to PJSC "RZD".
BMZ produces 300 sections of main line and 240 sections of shunting diesel locomotives per year. The plant employs more than 3.2 thousand people.
