For "Aeroflot", it is important that the new MC-21-310 aircraft meet modern requirements for the economics of civil aviation. The CEO of the carrier, Sergey Alexandrovsky, spoke about the expectations for the aircraft.

He reiterated that "Aeroflot" wants to buy 108 aircraft, 18 of which are at the stage of "firm" contracts.

The net loss of the "Aeroflot" group in the period from January to March 2026 amounted to 8.8 billion rubles against 3.4 billion rubles in losses a year earlier.

Expenses for maintaining existing aircraft and engines in airworthy condition in the first quarter of 2026 amounted to 7.27 billion rubles. This is 2.2 times more than in the same period of 2025.

The group operates a mixed fleet, which includes Airbus A320, A330, and A350 families, as well as Boeing — 737-800 and 777 models.

At the same time, "Aeroflot" will be supplied with MC-21 at 3.6 billion rubles per unit, with an expected market price of 9 billion rubles. The difference will be covered by state subsidies.
