Demand for individual electric charging stations (ECS) has doubled, and for public charging services – up to 20%, amidst an unstable situation in the Russian fuel market. This was stated by the Association of Manufacturers and Operators of Electric Charging Stations (APOE).

Individual ECS are purchased by owners of electric vehicles and hybrids equipped with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor with a battery. APOE added that 59% of electric vehicle owners and 47% of hybrid owners charged their cars at home or in an underground parking lot. They used their own ECS or a cable connected to a 220 V outlet.

The association noted that the demand for public ECS services is largely associated with hybrids. Owners of such vehicles have abandoned fuel and are increasingly using electric traction.

Igor Yushkov, an expert at the National Energy Security Fund, explained that previously, gasoline was chosen for hybrids, but now it is more profitable to use fast charging at ECS.

Other experts emphasize that in conditions of fuel supply interruptions, the most reliable option is a hybrid car. This explains the growth in sales of new and used electric vehicles and hybrids in the first half of 2026, as well as an increase in the number of charging stations in large cities.
