A stator of a new turbogenerator weighing almost 90 tons has been installed at the Abakan CHPP. The work was carried out by Siberian Generating Company together with specialists from the contractor organization "Sibirenergomontazh" as part of the modernization of turbine No. 1.
The stator became the first large element of the new turbogenerator installed in its permanent place. Two overhead cranes, operating in synchronous mode, were used for its installation. The equipment was moved through the machine hall and installed on the foundation with high precision. Surveyors were involved to control the design position.
The company reported that the operation took just over an hour and proceeded as planned. All work was performed without affecting the plant's electricity and heat production.
The next stage will be connecting the stator to pipelines and bus ducts, as well as its docking with elements of the new turbine and the automated control system. By the end of 2026, the installation of all main components of the new turbogenerator is planned to be completed in the turbine cell.
The project for the modernization of turbine No. 1 started at the end of 2025. It provides for the complete replacement of equipment that has been in operation for more than 40 years, as part of the federal program for updating generating capacities. After the modernization is completed, the turbine is expected to return to operation by the end of 2026.
