At CHPP-3 in Novosibirsk, a new turbogenerator No. 13 has been put into operation, which will increase the reliability of heat supply to the city's left bank and provide additional capacity for growing loads. The project became the first large-scale equipment upgrade at the station since the collapse of the USSR.

The new turbine unit was installed as part of the CHPP-3 modernization program. Its launch will allow for more stable heat supply to over 12,000 residential buildings, including about 2,500 apartment buildings and over 10,000 private homes.

The equipment is entirely manufactured in Russia. The turbine was produced at a plant in the Urals, and the generator was assembled by the Novosibirsk plant "Elsib", which has been manufacturing power equipment since 1953.

Currently, station specialists have begun dismantling the second turbine unit, which is also planned for replacement. After the upgrade, it will add another 20 MW of capacity to CHPP-3.

According to Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrey Travnikov, the commissioning of new turbine units will increase the station's average annual output by approximately 13% and meet the city's additional electricity needs.

The construction of a taller chimney, which will improve the dispersion of flue gases, is also being considered.
