Evgeny Popov has been appointed as the acting director of the Yakovlev Production Center in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. This was reported by the United Aircraft Corporation.
In this position, he replaced Andrey Soynov, who was previously transferred to work as the general director of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The Production Center is responsible for the production of the import-substituted SJ-100.
Earlier, Rosaviatsiya announced plans to certify the aircraft in July 2026. Later, the Ministry of Industry and Trade admitted a postponement to August. The final decision will be made by Rosaviatsiya.
Oleg Nesterov, Deputy Managing Director of Yakovlev, admitted that certification has become a brake on the path of the aviation industry. Systems for the liners have been developed, but confirming their compliance turned out to be more difficult, which ultimately affected the timing.
