PJSC "Yakovlev" has received approval for the main change to the type certificate for the MC-21 aircraft. The document allows the use of domestic polymer composite materials in the design of the aircraft's tail.
After the transition to Russian materials, the production of panels and load-bearing elements of the keel and stabilizer was transferred to the Kazan branch of "Aerocomposite". Previously, these elements were manufactured only with the use of foreign composites.
According to the head of the Kazan branch, Nikolai Kladnitsky, the new material provides better physical and mechanical characteristics than foreign analogues.
Without losing strength characteristics, we produce parts with lower manufacturing costs.
Next, "Yakovlev" is going to introduce robotic laying and expand the use of composites in fuselage elements.
Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov did not rule out a shift in the timing of MC-21 certification. At the end of March, Rosaviatsiya stated that the aircraft should receive a type certificate in October 2026.
"The First Technical" calculated the required volume of aircraft production to meet Aeroflot's needs for 200 units by 2030.
